A boost to calm problem skin
Calm and treat problem skin with our world-first microbiome-shifting formulation. Sapienic Acid is an oil-based serum from the most abundant compound in human sebum. It isn’t found in any other mammal, which is why it is named for our species, sapiens. It’s toxic to pathogens but supports our unique set of co-evolved skin microbes. You can use this oil as a booster treatment for sensitive skin and problems like eczema, acne and inflammation.

How it works
Sapienic acid is unique to humans and it is the most abundant fatty acid in human sebum. A deficiency of this acid in sebum has been linked to eczema and acne. DOI:10.1159/000087018; DOI:10.4161/derm.1.3.8473
It helps to prevent pathogens from colonising your skin DOI:10.1159/000069757; DOI:10.3389/fmicb.2017.00033 and it is a superbly curated nutrient for beneficial members of your skin microbiome.
Squalane is used as a neutral carrier for the sapienic acid.
How to use it
Remove the lid from one of the 3 cartridges and press it firmly into the barrel until you hear a click. Press the base to dispense product onto the applicator. Apply onto face in the evening after Lipids but before Serum. When empty, reload with a new cartridge.
This is a powerful product and should be used every evening for one week but then reduce to alternate evenings for maintenance.
Future forward packaging
The outer carton is fully compostable, made from recycled card with an organic cotton tag.
The primary packaging is polypropylene – a dispensing vial and three refill cartridges. For subsequent purchases you can just buy the refills.
The embodied carbon of the whole product, delivered to your door, is 215g and we have purchased carbon credits to offset this. There is 48.4g of plastic in the packaging and we have recovered an equivalent amount of plastic from the ocean to ensure plastic neutrality.
All the ingredients
Squalane, Hexadecenoic Acid, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Vanillin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil
100% of the total ingredients are from natural origin

What do we mean by carbon neutral?
We account for the carbon that is emitted in the manufacture of our raw materials and packaging (embodied carbon). This is partly why we use glass wherever we can. We also audit the carbon that we produce in the manufacture and transport of the product to its final destination. We make every effort to reduce these emissions. We purchase ethical carbon offsets for the emissions that we cannot avoid. As we grow our sphere of influence, we will be able to put more pressure on our suppliers to reduce their carbon footprints.
Vegan & Cruelty Free
We will not test our products on animals. We will not purchase raw materials from suppliers that test on animals or that contract with other entities that do. We will not use animal products of any kind in our range… not even beeswax.
Plastic Neutral
We use glass packaging where we can. It has high recycle rates and isn’t toxic in the environment.
We have not been able to find an alternative for plastic for our closures. To offset our plastic footprint, we have purchased offsets to prevent plastic from entering the ocean. This means the safe collection and recovery of ocean-bound plastic waste. The contribution supports clean environments and creates sustainable jobs.
We will extend and expand this project as we grow.

The COSMOS organic standards for personal care products audit both the raw materials and packaging used in the final product. We see these standards as a useful starting point, not as an end goal. Organic certification is the beginning of our assurance to you that the product that you’ve chosen is free of contaminants and synthetic chemicals … that it is healthier for your skin and better for the environment. There are many aspects of the standards that we feel should be even more stringent, but they still provide an audited baseline reassurance for our clients.
We will not test our products on animals. We will not purchase raw materials from suppliers that test on animals or that contract with other entities that do. Animal testing is still required for products that are sold in China, so our products will not be available in that country. We will not use animal products of any kind in our range… not even beeswax.
